I like commodities.
Commodities tell me that everything that is of value to humanity can be traded and speculated on.
Gold, silver, copper, oil, gas, electricity, water, pork belly, frozen orange juice, milk, drugs, whatever.
But I realised something today; that this shouldn’t be the case for everything. We should not be able to speculate on things of everyday value to people. And so I set about finding what isn’t a commodity - and while I couldn’t find a physicality that in some way could be viewed as a commodity; I stumbled across
a smile.
“…it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.”
